Double page spread second draft and feedback

Second draft Double page spread

This is my second draft which I started my first design on Photoshop of my double page spread.

Feedback:

v The main image needs to be a lot bigger to ensure that this is the main element within the double page spread.

v Ensure the strapline placed underneath the headline can clearly be seen. This is to ensure this stands out and emphasises that this is Lydia’s story.

v Ensure that the double page spread is exciting and stands out, for example may be add some more colour.

v Add some more quotes from Lydia to make sure that readers know that this is an exclusive interview with Lydia.

Contents page second draft and feedback

Second draft contents page

This is my second draft which I started my first design on Photoshop of my contents page.
Feedback:
v  The main image to the left of the page suites the contents page extremely well and the size is appropriate for the page. However, this may be better if another picture was added to make the page more exciting. Also this may improve the blank space at the bottom of the page.
v  The plain black box is not necessary for the page and there seems to be no actual purpose for it.
v  It is good that there isn’t a lot of text but there is clearly enough to show all the pages within the story. Also having the pages number in red ensures that the reader will know where to go to read that particular information.
v  The headline may need to be slightly bigger to ensure that this page stands out.

Front cover second draft and feedback

Second draft Front cover

This is my second draft which I started my first design on Photoshop of my front cover.

Feedback:

v  The main image works well within the front cover. This should stay the same when creating the final draft.

v  However there is no evidence that your magazine has been given a price, so ensure that the price is on the magazine. This will ensure the magazine is professional and includes all elements and conventions as does other magazines.

v  Make the cover line quote bigger, this is to ensure that the main story ill stand out.

v  A suggestion-Turn the “exclusive” to the side this will ensure that everything is not just straight and this may add an element of fun to my magazine.

Double page spread first draft and feedback

This is the first draft on paper for the double page spread of my magazine.  I had to draw this on paper before I started creating my double page spread on my music magazine I had to ensure I had an understanding of what other music magazines do when creating their double page spread and how they look.  From this I was able to ensure I had some awareness of different conventions within the double page spread.  When drawing this first draft I had to ensure I included:
·         Headline
·         Main image
·         Story
·         Strapline
From this I knew what content I wanted to include but I had to to know how the magazine would look:
·         The colours I was going to use
·         Where the image was going to be placed
·         The sizes of font
·         Where the story is going to be situated and what was going to be included within the story.
From designing on paper I have gained some understanding of how I want my overall double page spread to look.

Contents page first draft and feedback

This is the first draft on paper for the contents page of my magazine. I had to do a front cover before I started to design on photo shop to ensure I had an understanding of where I wanted different elements of the contents page were going to be placed. This would help to ensure that I include everything I wanted and all conventions that should be on the contents page. From researching other music magazine, I had to ensure that in my own magazine I included:

·         A headline

·         Page numbers that are clear

·         Straplines of the stories which are going to be throughout the magazine

·         Image that will grab the attention of readers

·         Ensure that the layout will look right when the magazine is produced on Photoshop.

Whilst doing this I had to gain some knowledge on the colour scheme I want on my magazine, were everything is going to be situated, how I want my images to be edited and placed on the contents page.

From producing this draft I have gained some understanding as to how I want my contents page to look and where I want all to be positioned.
